SPECIAL: Graduation 2020
The moment you've been waiting for has finally come, Graduation!! Now I know it isn't, in any way, how you imagined you'd be celebrating the many years of school you've accomplished but one of the most important keys to life I've learned thus far is, "Life is what YOU make of it!" Frankly, you can either allow yourself to become overwhelmed with frustration or you can make a positive, self-conscious decision to make the best of this time with the cards you've been dealt. You have that power!
Over the course of the past couple of months, you've had to overcome obstacles that you'll talk about and share for years to come. Facing uncertainty, yet showing you were resilient. There's no doubt that some of the brightest and strongest minds are going to emerge from your generation and make advancements for the future of the world. I suspect that you will lead the way to some revolutionary ideas and technology to further improve the structure currently in place. There's an enormous amount of opportunity for you to help shape what the next few years or even decades will look like.
Not to downplay, the special moments I know were either canceled or postponed like plans for prom, gatherings, and trips but those too will be a testament to what you're capable of. I'm sure you've already planned something for the future. Perhaps an anniversary prom a year from now or a celebration vacation next fall. The date and time shouldn't weigh heavily because, in the end, it is the memories that you'll remember and carry with you.
So in conclusion, time to celebrate all the hard work and many hours you've put into class participation, homework, and extracurricular activities! Au revoir, (for now) to the late nights you stayed up to cram for an exam. Cheers, to the thousands of pages you read in textbooks and novels. Hail, to the many handwritten (or typed), paragraph after paragraph, reports. YOU DID IT!! You are..
Your next chapter awaits you and without any hesitation, know that you are far more capable than you can imagine. When life gives you lemons, take them and make that best damn lemonade you've ever tasted. Best wishes to you and yours. Hugs!
